Lent is a 40-Day period leading up to Easter that allows us to be spiritually renewed and refresh

Holy Week Services

March 24 – Palm Sunday

Join us for worship at 9 and 11 as we remember Christ’s triumphal entry. Kids are invited to process with palms during both worship services.

At 10am Kids will have a bike parade (bring bikes or ride ons) around the church with palms. Following the parade they will have an Easter Egg hunt.

March 28 – Maundy Thursday
Come and Go Prayer Stations, 12-1pm & 5:30-7:30pm, Family Life Center

Join us as we remember Jesus’ final supper with his disciples. Our Lenten worship series has focused on Peter and each station will look at the events of holy week through his experience. There are a variety of times that you can come to reflect and pray in our Family Life Center building.

March 29 – Good Friday Service, 7:00pm, Sanctuary

A Tenebrae service of light and darkness remembering Christ’s arrest and crucifixion through readings, musical responses, choral reflections, and candlelight. 

March 31st – Easter Celebrations and Worship

Bring flowers from home for the Flowering of the Cross

7:00am – Sunrise Easter Service 

A shorter, more informal Easter service outdoors in the courtyard near the cross with communion.

9:00am – Traditional Easter Service (Sanctuary)

A traditional Easter service with music led by choir and guest instrumentalists with communion

10:00am – Easter Brunch 

All are welcome to brunch in the Fellowship Hall. You are welcome to bring a dish to share. 

11:00am – Contemporary Service (Family Life Center)

Easter service with contemporary music led by the praise band and communion.

NURSERY AND CHILDREN

Nursery workers are available from 10am-Noon (during brunch and the late service). We also have Children’s Church during our 11AM service where kids 2nd grade and under are invited to participate in play based learning.

Sunday worship services will feature readings from the Gospel of Luke. Jesus didn’t just flip tables upside-down; he turned the world upside down. Even still, he reveals the unseen, confronts the unspoken, reaches out to the unwelcome, inspires the unfruitful, opens the eyes of the ungrateful, and calls us to a loving relationship that is uninhibited. Come and see.

Tuesday, March 2 – Mardi Gras Pancake Supper, 5:30-7 PM, Family Life Center

Wednesday, March 2 – Ash Wednesday  We will partner with Buda United Methodist Church and offer ashes outdoors at noon during their food pantry pick-up time. We will have a worship service in our sanctuary at 7 pm.

Sunday, March 6 – Lent Prayer Retreat, 12:30-3:30 PM, KUMC Parsonage. Spend an afternoon in quiet prayer outside, with time for food and fellowship inside. We have ongoing projects, so bring gloves and yard tools if you like  to work with your hands while you think and pray. (No actual work is required, though!)

Sunday, April 3 – We will Rally Around the Blessings Box every first Sunday of the month. From 6-8 PM we will serve hot dogs and paint rocks that will be used in an outreach mission to serve our community.

Saturday, April 9 – Kyle UMC at City of Kyle Easter Eggstravaganza – We will have Spin-the-Wheel game with prizes at the City of Kyle’s Easter event. Find out more on their website and come join us! https://www.cityofkyle.com/recreation/easter-egg-stravaganza-3

Sunday, April 10 – Palm Sunday Worship with Children’s Bicycle Parade and Easter Egg Hunt at 10am – We will share the story of Palm Sunday in worship at 9 and 11 am. In between services, we will venture outside to celebrate with the children as they join in a bicycle parade around the church. Children of all ages are invited to bring decorated bikes, scooters, or strollers. There will be games and an egg hunt, so children should bring a basket. Bring donations of new and gently used coats to the gathering as well. We collect the coats to remember Jesus’ ride into Jerusalem on the coats of His followers. The coats will be donated to the Hays Clothes Closet for the next winter season.

Thursday, April 14 – Maundy Thursday Gathering at 7 PM – Join us for this unique and meaningful remembrance. We will gather around a candle-lit table of Mediterranean appetizers and read the entire Gospel of Luke aloud. It will take about as long as it would take to watch a movie. You can volunteer to read a chapter of a few verses when you arrive.

Friday, April 15 – Good Friday Worship at 7 PM. We will gather in the Family Life Center for readings from the passion story of Jesus as the worship space is slowly darkened.

Sunday, April 17 – Easter Services— We will gather in the Courtyard at 7:30am for a Sunrise Service with communion and acapella hymns. At 9 am, we will have a Resurrection Celebration with communion and joyous music, followed by a brunch hosted by the United Methodist Women. Then we will have another full service with music and communion at 11am.
