About the “Toolkit for Aging” Event
For both Aging Parents and their Adult Children
Navigating the later years of life can be confusing and frightening for both aging loved ones and their adult children. What is the role of the adult child now that their parent needs more help? How can aging loved ones thrive amid all the changes and uncertainty of late life? How do you make necessary but tough decisions about safety and wellbeing?
This Toolkit for Aging event offers valuable resources to help both younger and older generations faithfully navigate the unknowns of late life. Learn to stand in the shoes of the other generation and communicate more effectively. Get tips on traversing the unknowns of eldercare, including commonly-used lingo and the differences in care options. Discover the importance of having end-of-life legal plans updated and in place.
Three professionals will each present on a specific topic and will allow time for Q&A.
Meet Some of Our Speakers
Missy Buchanan

An advocate for older adults, Missy Buchanan is a sought-after author and speaker on issues of aging faithfully, drawing first from her personal experience as a caregiver for her own aging parents. She has appeared several times on Good Morning America with co-anchor Robin Roberts who describes Missy as “the rare soul that understands, truly understands, older adults: their fears, struggles and hopes.” Missy was also the co-author of Robin Robert’s mother Lucimarian Roberts’ memoir, My Story, My Song. Missy has also written eleven books on faithful aging, widely used in senior communities and churches. She has spoken at hundreds of churches, senior living communities, and national conferences, including the largest United Methodist Church in the U.S.
Sarah Hyde-Williams

Sarah Hyde-Williams, co-founder of Senior Living Advisors of Austin and Collaborators In Care, has nearly 25 years of experience guiding seniors and their families through the complexities of elder care. She holds multiple certifications, including Texas Assisted Living/Dementia Care Manager, Dementia Care Trainer/Coach and Montessori Dementia Care Practitioner. With deep compassion and expertise, Sarah empowers families in navigating difficult transitions with confidence, ensuring their choices reflect and honor their values and needs.
Megan Delaney Rogers

Megan Delaney Rogers, a native of Southern Louisiana and proud graduate of Louisiana State University, graduated cum laude from St. Mary’s School of Law, San Antonio, Texas in 2003. She was a member of Phi Delta Phi honor fraternity and the John M. Harlan Society for distinguished graduates. For the past several years, Megan has focused her practice on elder law, estate planning and probate, along with real estate title issues.
Megan’s strong belief in fairness and advocacy, as well as her ability to see issues from all sides (and debate her opinion) first brought her to the law as a young child.
Most of all, Megan enjoys educating those she comes into contact with about areas of the law that affect them and potential pitfalls for the unwary, helping people to plan intentionally and informed rather than unknowingly make costly errors in their treatment of their property and planning for the future. She enjoys working with blended families to help them workout estate planning to avoid conflict and missteps in the future. She has helped many newly married older adults with separate property to avoid commingling their property and creating issues with property transfer after death, assisting people to avoid probate altogether or lessen the need for probate, and helping families retain as much generational wealth as they can rather than spend it on long term care and avoid missteps in planning.
Megan has been actively involved in the Kyle/Buda area, being a past and present member of boards for the Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Kyle, and the Plum Creek HOA. She has served in various ways with the Hays Band Boosters and Hays Hills Baptist Church.
Megan and her husband John have lived in Kyle for more than 20 years where they raised their three children. They have a heart for foster and adoption, as their youngest two children were adopted after being fostered. Their children are now young adults and Megan and John are focusing on growing Rogers Law and giving back to the community.
